Use your saved CIS scans and findings from ChatGPT, Claude, or any MCP client.

Copy this URL into your MCP client. The assistant can then read your scans and findings and update remediation status as you.

ChatGPT

  1. Enable Developer mode in ChatGPT at Connectors . If it is unavailable, ask your ChatGPT admin to enable it.
  2. Open the new connector dialog .
  3. Paste the app name and the MCP URL above into the name and URL fields.
  4. Review the details, check the safety acknowledgement, then create the connector.
  5. Enable the app from the chat composer and ask ChatGPT to use CIS Benchmark Explainer.

Refresh after the app changes

  1. Open ChatGPT's Plugins page and select this app.
  2. Scroll to Information and click Refresh.
  3. If the URL changed, delete the connector and repeat the steps above.
  4. Start a new chat and ask ChatGPT to use the app.

Claude

  1. Open Claude's custom connector dialog .
  2. Review the prefilled name and URL, then click Add.
  3. If the dialog is empty, choose Add custom connector and paste the MCP URL above.
  4. Enable the connector from the chat composer and ask Claude to use CIS Benchmark Explainer.

Refresh after the app changes

  1. Open Claude's Connectors page and select this connector.
  2. Refresh or update the connector's tools.
  3. If the URL changed, remove the connector and repeat the steps above.
  4. Ask Claude to use the app.

Claude Code

Run this command in a terminal. It installs the server under your user profile so it works from any directory.

  1. Run the command above.
  2. Start Claude Code and run /mcp to confirm the connection.
  3. Sign in when prompted, then ask Claude Code to use CIS Benchmark Explainer.

Refresh after the app changes

  1. Start a new Claude Code session to load the latest tools.
  2. If the URL changed, run claude mcp remove cis-benchmark-explainer, then run the install command again with the latest URL.

Other MCP clients

  1. Open the client's MCP server or custom connector settings.
  2. Create a remote MCP server connection.
  3. Name it CIS Benchmark Explainer and paste the MCP URL above.
  4. Complete any sign-in or authorization prompts.
  5. Enable the connection, then ask the assistant to use the app.

Refresh after the app changes

  1. Open the client's MCP server or connector settings.
  2. Select the CIS Benchmark Explainer connection.
  3. Refresh the tool list, reload the server, or reconnect it.
  4. If the URL changed, paste the latest URL above.
  5. Start a new chat or session and ask the assistant to use the app.
